STEP 01

Tell us about your Hunter Valley project

STEP 02

Site inspection and tailored quote

The on-site inspection is vital for an accurate project plan and our detailed quote. This is where our demolition contractor assesses factors such as site safety, access, and the likelihood of asbestos on site.

Our friendly, expert contractor looks out for smarter, more cost-effective ways to complete the job safely. We often use different techniques depending on the Hunter Valley suburb and the property type.

Our site inspector normally considers the following:

• The construction type, height, and footprint of the structure to be demolished.
• Nearby buildings, fences, shared walls, and public footpaths
• The location of overhead power lines and underground services
• Signs of asbestos, lead-based paint, or contaminated soil
• Likely issues with access for demolition and excavation equipment, and truck movements

STEP 03

Approvals, notifications, and utility cut offs

When you are happy with our quote, we will help guide you through the necessary notifications and approvals. We can’t start work until we have relevant approvals and utilities have been disconnected. The approvals are required to protect you and future occupants of the space.

Key inclusions are:

• Local Council documentation
• Notify SafeWork NSW for licenced demolition or Hunter Valley asbestos removal
• Arrange the disconnection of electricity, gas, water, and telecoms
• Prepare plans to remove and dispose of hazardous materials

STEP 04

Final scope, demolition plan, and fixed price

This may be described as the “no surprises” step, where we document the planned method, timelines and all inclusions. Each plan and final quote is tailored to your requirements and your site.

Common inclusions are:

• The proposed demolition method, such as mechanical, hand work, or a mix of the two
• Machinery types and truck numbers, expected start date, and estimated duration
• Inclusions such as swimming pool removal in Hunter Valley, excavation, and land remediation
• How we will remove and dispose of asbestos and other hazardous materials
• Expected waste separation, recycling targets, and tipping locations

STEP 05

Site set up and safety controls

Before starting work, we must set the site up properly for safety and efficiency, in compliance with NSW WHS laws and SafeWork NSW guidelines. This stage is a key indicator of a professional operator, as opposed to “cheap and rushed” demolition cowboys!

Our setup, to keep our workers, your neighbours and the community safe:

• Fencing, lockable gates, and clear warning signs
• Traffic and pedestrian management, where needed
• Dust suppression techniques, such as water sprays, and noise or vibration controls
• Marked exclusion zones for machinery and asbestos removal areas
• Safe areas for stockpiling and sorting recyclable materials

STEP 06

Controlled demolition and material removal

This is the main demolition phase. With us, you will never experience a rushed “smash and grab” job.

Our work is carried out in a controlled, methodical way by skilled operators and specialised, well-maintained machinery.

The exact method is adapted to suit your site conditions and the neighbourhood, but will probably involve:

• Mechanical demolition, with excavators and specialised attachments
• Cautious work near boundaries, neighbouring homes, and live services
• We handle asbestos containing materials with licenced experts conducting asbestos removal and disposal
• Dust, debris, and noise management throughout the project

STEP 07

Excavation, land remediation, and clean up

One of the benefits of using Hunter Valley Demolition is that we can handle your entire project from demolition, through excavation and land remediation, if necessary, so you don’t need to juggle multiple contractors.

We aim to hand over a clean, levelled site ready for your builder to begin construction. This step includes:

• Sorted and separated waste materials for recycling and safe disposal
• Removed rubble, concrete, bricks, timber, and other surface debris
• We excavate slabs, footings, swimming pools, or underground tanks as agreed
• We conduct Hunter Valley land remediation where contamination is identified
• Your block will be clean and level, so it is ready for the next stage

STEP 08

Final inspection, paperwork, and handover

This is our “quality check” stage, for your peace of mind. We confirm the agreed scope of work is complete and provide all required documents.

We will:

• Walk the site with you or your builder to confirm what has been removed and what has been retained
• Check that the site finish matches the agreed state, for example, slab removed or slab left
• Ensure we close the loop on compliance by handing over copies of SafeWork NSW notifications and completion records where applicable, including asbestos clearance certificates and disposal dockets
